TRAINING OBJECTIVES
An inclusive youth setting means all young people feel a sense of belonging, knowing that they matter for who they are, and they are invited to engage on their own terms. To create an inclusive and responsive environment for young people from minority and marginalised identities, we must tackle incidences of hateful language and actions in our youth settings
Transformative and compassionate practice is a way of working with young people who cause harm or hate through hateful language and actions to those from (or perceived to be from) minority or marginalised identities. It is grounded in non-punitive approaches, deep listening, and understanding the needs of young people.
The objectives of this e-learning are to:
- Create awareness of the value of transformative and compassionate practice in youth work
- Deepen youth workers and youth leaders understanding of the importance of tackling hateful language and actions in youth settings
